Our shop is located in a quiet residential area in Haruyama-cho, Mizuho-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, and has been in business for 93 years. The venerable Chida-wa has inherited the goodwill and has continued to pass on Japanese clothing culture for three generations. With traditional skilled craftsmen dividing up the work into sketches, dyeing, gold processing, and embroidery, we value listening to the customer's wishes and moving forward with the customer through the customization process. We are known as a "general store," and "general" is pronounced "shikkai." As the word "kotogotsu, mina" (everything and anything) implies, we are responsible for selecting craftsmen according to the customer's wishes and acting as a go-between between the craftsmen.
In order to deliver a unique and one-of-a-kind kimono to our customers, skilled craftsmen divide the work into several steps, sometimes performing delicately and sometimes boldly. We cannot deliver a kimono without all of the steps. The succession of Japan's traditional craft techniques is already an issue for the near future. Together with the craftsmen who live together with us, we will strive to deliver kimonos made with Japan's traditional techniques for as long as possible.
